I am so excited to announce that I am officially done with my Masters of Arts in Counselling Psychology Program. This final week of Practicum has been filled with both joy and tears as I parted ways with some amazing young people I feel honoured to know. I am so grateful for the guidance of some incredible mentors, particularly my supervisor Colleen and my Prof Dr. Stacee, during these past 8 months. Now it is time to grow in a way I've been hoping to for a while... by starting my own private practice.
Starting a new career as a private counsellor can be incredibly exciting and rewarding. It's a profession where you get to help people overcome their struggles and improve their lives, and that can be incredibly fulfilling. I love working with a variety of clients, each with their unique challenges and goals, which can make every day feel different and interesting.
The learning and growth opportunities that a counselling career offers are limitless. As a person who has spent the last 6 years learning and growing personally, I am so excited to help my clients do the same thing. Being able to use my natural skills of empathy, active listening, and communication skills to connect with, understand and empower other human beings is exactly what I want my life's work to be.
As a counsellor, there is an incredible opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of your clients. Overcoming overwhelming emotions or difficult life circumstances, traumatic events, developing better-coping mechanisms, or improving communication and relationships with others are just some of the incredible transformations I get to be a part of. The satisfaction of seeing your clients make progress and reach their goals can be extremely rewarding and motivating.
